EDC to offer Fire Recovery Sessions for business owners and employees

The Economic Development Council of San Juan County (EDC) invites business owners and employees who have been displaced or negatively impacted by the April 7 fire in downtown Friday Harbor, to an informational session featuring local banks, insurers, utility, workforce, and other providers, to answer questions and connect to providers.

Sessions include

Employee Info Session (employers also encouraged to attend), Thursday, April 14 from 9-10 a.m.

Topics will include:

• The Family Resource Center will provide information about rental assistance, other forms of financial assistance and low-cost counseling services.

• NW Workforce Development will discuss how they can help with resume evaluation, job search assistance and job skills training

• EDC will discuss filing for unemployment insurance and other options for employees

Business Owner Info Session, Friday, April 15 9-10 a.m.

Topics will include:

Local service providers will provide information on resources for:

• Insurance

• Workforce support

• Legal

• Financial services

• Utilities
