Submitted by the San Juan Islands Contra Dance

The San Juan Contra Dance will take place at the Grange Hall in Friday Harbor, Saturday, July 20, 7-9 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door, $5 students. This month, contra dance organizers are happy to feature Michael Karcher calling. Karcher is a popular energetic young caller from Seattle who, attendees have enjoyed several times at the San Juan dances. And this month’s band is “Not For Sissies,” featuring some favorite musicians, including fiddlers Vivian Williams and Sono Hashisaki and guitarist Jay Finkelstein. They are all expert and entertaining. For those that don’t dance, come and enjoy the music. Island contragoers are fortunate these folks are coming to put on the monthly dance!

As always with contra dance, all dances are taught; no need to bring a partner, and no need for previous contra dance experience. Everyone is welcome, we always have a good time together.
