With three-part harmonies, witty on-stage banter and a constant swapping of instruments, the Good Lovelies are taking the folk music world by storm.
Friday Harbor gets its chance to hear those award-winning sounds, Saturday, April 28, at San Juan Community Theatre.
The Canadian trio—Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore—have brought a tireless rain-or-shine outlook to stages in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States since joining forces in their hometown of Toronto in 2006.
Their self-titled full-length album release in 2009 not only won the group recognition as “New Emerging Artist” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards but also a Juno (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys) for Roots/Traditional Album of the Year in 2010. The group was also nominated in the same category this year for their latest album, “Let the Rain Fall”.
Canada’s Globe and Mail columnist Brad Wheeler says of the trio: “They had me at bup-bup but-tup-bah…they make three-part harmonies divinely—all sun, serotonin and retro-radio.”
More information and music videos to view are available on the group’s website at www.goodlovelies.com.
