Spring Street International School’s graduation was Saturday at the San Juan Community Theatre, but awards were still coming in three days later.

A $1,000 scholarship was awarded by Islanders Bank Orcas Island today to Amelia Carver, who is headed to MIT in the fall. The award brings the number of local scholarships awarded to Spring Street’s Class of 2009 to 17 from 12 sources.

In addition, three students received near-full rides or substantial scholarships from their universities: Laura Kriete-Bain, New York University; Sonja Anderson, University of San Francisco; and Amelia Carver, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

— Bishop Fleet Foundation: Amelia Carver, $2,500 a year for four years.
