The award-winning film “The Cove” will show Thursday, 7 p.m., in the Palace Theatre as a fund-raiser for Orca Relief Citizens’ Alliance.

The film’s director, Louie Psihoyos, will attend the showing. Psihoyos is also the executive director of the Oceanic Preservation Society.

There will be a reception with the director after the movie at The Bluff Restaurant and Bar in Friday Harbor House. Tickets are available by contacting Shane Elben at 378-8628 or shane@stratnews.com. Ticket prices are $15 for the movie only, and $50 for the movie and reception.

“The Cove,” a documentary, describes how Richard O’Barry, director Psihoyos and a team of adventurers penetrated the tight security around the Taiji cove to document the mass slaughter of dolphins.

“The Cove” received awards from numerous film festivals, including Maui, Nantucket, Newport Beach, Seattle, Sundance, Sydney, and Galway, Ireland.

Orca Relief Citizens’ Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its goal is to educate the public of behaviors that are advancing the decline of local orca population.
