Submitted by the San Juan Community Theatre.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. and audition for San Juan Community Theatre’s winter play, “Perfect Arrangement,” by Topher Payne. It’s 1950 and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have been tasked with identifying “sexual deviants” within their ranks. There’s just one problem: both Bob and Norma are gay and have married each other’s partners as a carefully constructed cover.
The script offers performers an opportunity to flex both their comedic and dramatic muscles as they switch from 1950s sitcom-style comedy to true snapshots of the characters’ innermost lives.
For those interested in auditioning, please note that this show includes adult language, racial and homosexual slurs, kissing and physical affection between partners. Auditions will take place at the PARC Building located at 70 Saltspring Drive and will consist of readings from the script.
Scripts are available now at the SJCT Box Office, open 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. If you would like to audition but are unable to attend, please email director Brandon Cadwell at brandon.g.cadwell@gmail.com.
