Artstock kicks off “Savor the San Juans” a monthlong festival celebrated throughout the San Juan Islands.
The 5th Annual Artstock, “a fall festival of art” celebrating the diverse artistic culture of the area, is Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1 and 2.
This self-guided art tour showcases local artists in their creative environment, gallery receptions, demos and events.
Galleries will be open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Participating galleries are Arctic Raven Gallery’s Native American art, Gallery San Juan’s local art, San Juan Islands Museum of Art’s local and regional art, Island Studios’ local art and Waterworks Gallery’s contemporary art.
The Waterworks Gallery will display sculptures, paintings and glass that prominently depict stones, boulders and more by gallery artists Tom Small, Catherine Eaton Skinner, Jeremy Newman and Allison Ciancibelli.
The open studio tour runs from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. both days.
Returning studios include Green Winds Studio, artist Kristy Gjesme with guest artist, Margaret Thorson with painting, mixed media and fiber arts, Joyce Crain with painting and mixed media, San Juan Glassworks, artist Yvonne Mancuso with art glass and encaustics and Paula West’s pottery.
New studios this year are Spaulding Studios with artists Lewis and Nancy Spaulding’s mixed media, photography, pastels and oils and Michael Stosic Studios’ oil painting.
