Art, music, local cuisine and more: Artstock Fall Festival of Art is this weekend

The fourth annual Artstock — a fall festival of art celebrating the diverse artistic culture of the area — is Saturday and Sunday Oct. 2-3 on San Juan Island. The weekend includes two days of open art studios and art gallery events to delight the senses and feed the soul.

The weekend includes two days of open art studios and art gallery events to delight the senses and feed the soul.

Artstock kicks off the month-long “Savor the San Juans: A Medley of Food, Art & Culture.” The month of events includes dining-out specials, a half-marathon, live music, theater performances, and a concert by Grammy winners Asleep at the Wheel.

This weekend, savor a unique self-guided art tour showcasing local artists in their creative environment throughout San Juan Island, plus gallery receptions and events into the evening in Friday Harbor.

The following galleries will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: Arctic Raven Gallery, Northwest Coast Native art; Concepia, photography; Gallery San Juan, unique local art; San Juan Islands Museum of Art, local and regional art; Island Studios, original local artwork; and Waterworks Gallery, contemporary artwork.

The open studio tour is from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days. Participating studios include Anne Sheridan Photography with guest artists Lavelle Foos and Terrea Bennett, etchings, jewelry, paintings, photography, wood sculpture; Darleen’s Design’s, lampworked glass bead jewelry; Green Winds Studio, artist Kristy Gjesme with guest artist, Margaret Thorson, fiber arts, mixed media, painting; Joyce Crain, mixed media and painting; San Juan Glassworks, artist Yvonne Mancuso, art glass and encaustics; Paula West Pottery, pottery; and Lucky Dog Studio, artist Stewart Luckman, sculpture.
