April 19 Day of Action

Submitted by event organizers

On Saturday, April 19 at noon on the San Juan County Courthouse Lawn, islanders will gather once again for a Day of Action.

This gathering continues upon the success of the nationally organized HandsOff mobilization, the 50501 Movement, and multiple other organizations including Indivisible. The local group, Indivisible San Juan Islands works with local organizations to ensure the momentum continues, and to provide services, education, and action items to assist the local community to stay aligned in action to protect democracy, rights and vital government services. Indivisible SJI is hosting this event as a protest with some action items, and collective activities the community can work on together while enjoying music and connecting. There will be something for everyone to voice their concerns with our current administration. After a very successful peaceful day of protesting during the Hands Off event on San Juan Island with nearly 800 protesters, Indivisible San Juan Islands works to offer a space for people to come together during these challenging times to build community and support our democracy. Together, we are indivisible!

The protest will begin at noon on the Courthouse Lawn, with attendees encouraged to bring their signs expressing their concerns. Action activities will be available from noon to 1 p.m., with pre-addressed postcards to Washington state representatives and senators ready for attendees to write their concerns, ISJI will mail them. There will also be three large banners to be written on by attendees to amplify our island voices.
