Activities needed at Island Rec’s Children’s Festival

Submitted by Parks and Recreation

Mark your calendars – San Juan Island’s 27th Annual Children’s Festival will be Saturday, May 6. Island Rec is recruiting local organizations to host an activity, like a craft or demonstration, using this year’s theme – Around the World.

The theme allows all ages to explore what our world has to offer.

Activities should foster imagination, inspire and bring culture to life. Submit activities by April 4.

The program usually includes 30 organizations. Scheduled activities include making African necklaces and using sugar cubes to construct popular global buildings.

“The program has lots of fun, free activities,” said Johnston. “It’s not quit summer yet, so it gives families something to do and provides opportunities for tons of kids.”

The Children’s Festival will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the fairgrounds building.
