Fab Four fun hits Friday Harbor on Saturday, 8 p.m. when Abbey Road Live! returns to the San Juan Community Theatre.
Not your typical Beatles look-a-like tribute band (these four lads don’t have mop-top haircuts or play Rickenbacker guitars), Abbey Road Live! is a show about bringing to life some of the more mature and complex Beatles materials in a raw and spirited fashion, while remaining true to the original recordings.
Made up of all-star musicians from the Athens, Ga., music scene, Abbey Road Live! initially formed as a tribute to the monumental “Abbey Road” album. Since then, the band has expanded its scope to include more than 100 Beatles tunes from all of the Fab Four’s career.
The group rocked a multi-generational SJCT audience last July. Youngsters and their grandparents were out of their seats, ready to “Get Back” to the days of “Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da,” enjoying the monumental music performed live (something that even the Beatles never did after they stopped touring in 1966).
The evening’s business partners are the Bed & Breakfast Association of San Juan Island and Rock Island Technology Solutions. Tickets are $27 for adults, $14 for student reserved, with $5 student RUSH one hour before the show, if there are still seats available.
