I am writing in support of the upcoming Maintenance and Operations Levy for our existing San Juan Island Library. Our library is truly a community learning center that serves all ages from toddlers to retired folks.
It has been decades since libraries limited themselves solely to checking out traditional books and our library is no exception. We have e-books, DVDs, audio books and reference books of all kinds. We have speakers with topics ranging from managing your own forests to famous authors such a Barbara Kingsolver and David Brooks live streamed from the Seattle Public Library. We have a plethora of programs and activities serving toddlers, grade schoolers, teenagers and adults.
This can only continue to happen with your support. A failed levy for our existing library means cutbacks to hours, collections and programs. Please vote YES for the August 8th levy to support our current library services.
