In keeping with your recent article supporting local businesses, we want to share how blessed we feel to have been able to enjoy and supply our customers with the bounty of local goods.
We are so thankful to the numerous gardeners and farmers that met our needs and deliver to us with no additional delivery costs.
We would also like to thank all our customers who, by eating at the Rumor Mill, pay it forward by eating in our restaurant the local foods we purchased, and in that thread enjoy the local musicians we hire and the local kids we hired all summer.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those of you who looked past our opening few weeks of going from construction to restaurant in 1.5 hours on July 3. The first few weeks were definitely a learning curve; thanks for your patience and understanding and thank you so much for your continued support.
Our thanks to States Inn (Angel Michaels), Lopez Creamery, Synergy Farms, Jones Family Farm, Waldron Flowers, Fir Oak Farms, Steve and Irene at San Juan Coffee Roasting, Orcas Island Brewing, Keith Keyser, Barb and John Jensen, Horse Drawn Farm, San Juan Pasta Co., and numerous other farmers who supplied us week in and out in our busy time.
We are thankful for the opportunity to purchase excellent wine from San Juan Vineyards and Mount Baker Vineyards, as well as Beecher’s Cheese (Pike’s Place Market), rice, honey, beef, and much more from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
We also extend our thanks to Mark Gardner for the perfect photo he took of South Beach and then had it made into a 5 by 20 mural, and to Dona Reed for her artwork.
We are very lucky to have such excellent musicians, artists, farmers, and friends. We are truly a sustainable community!
Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings to all,
Oren and Peggy Combs
