Regarding Mayor David Jones’ guest column, “Friday Harbor annexation: Let’s determine the costs before we commit,” Sept. 17 Journal and SanJuanJournal.com:
My wife and I own a home and property that is adjacent to the proposed annexation. It is not our primary residence and, subsequently, we are not local voters, but still very interested in what is happening in our neighborhood.
We have been following, quietly, the proposals and have an acute understanding of the need for housing for some (as well as opinions on how to solve this). However, whenever there is haste in the actions of one group, we should all stand back and take a long look.
We also “urge patience so that the Town Council is allowed ample time to make an informed decision.” This is the responsible and lawful thing to do.
We do not know David Jones nor his politics. But his methodical approach is refreshing.
