What this county needs is a grandmother in tennis shoes to bring a little common sense to the County Council.

Years of bickering, short-sightedness, complacency and downright irresponsibility have landed us in a mess. Having been around long enough to remember, and also work within, the three-commissioner system, I am appalled at how little is accomplished with more people at the helm.

Laura Jo Severson eschews political road signs for signs of life at the governing table. Good for her. Severson will be good for the county. Elect her, for heaven’s sake. She’ll run circles around the seated ones. Might get them off their butts.
