I’ve been critical in past guest columns of Editor Spaulding over some of her journalistic choices. But I’d like to point out that the editorial “Clarifying our opinion policies” is an example of a good and important choice. It gives clarity to the policies of the newspaper in clear language and frankly explains how staffing issues are sometimes a factor while encouraging a courteous exchange of ideas about issues. It is well written. I’d make only one suggestion, publish it again before the start of the next election cycle.
Sincerely,
Philip Cook
