Keep on course; ‘No’ on Prop. 1 | Letters

Our current charter recognizes the importance of these significant changes to our local governance and requires a more deliberative process

Currently, our charter requires an elected Charter Review Commission to make recommendations to the voters for any changes to council districts and the number of council members.

Any recommendations from the Charter Review Commission are then approved or rejected by the voters.

Proposition 1, if approved by voters, would change that. Council districts and the number of council members could then change through the initiative process, as initiated by voters or the council, in any general election.

Our current charter recognizes the importance of these significant changes to our local governance and requires a more deliberative process and a predictable timeframe for consideration of these significant changes.

Please join us in voting “No” on Proposition 1.
