I’ve been researching the SJC County Council District 2 candidates because I don’t want to vote for someone just because of name recognition. I’m happy to say I found what I was looking for. I found a quality candidate, and it’s Justin Paulsen.
Justin Paulsen’s victory in the primary election on Orcas Island was by 9.5%. I trust my Orcas Island friends and neighbors who know these two local candidates best. I hope others will take the time to learn more about Justin Paulsen and not just vote for someone from the past because of name recognition. Our county government needs to be forward-thinking, not backward. We need creative, hard-working and community-minded county council members and I feel Justin embodies these qualities and more!
I’ve learned that Justin has invested an enormous amount of time and energy volunteering to help create solutions as the Ferry Advisory Chair and a founding member of the Community Water Taxi. In response to the consistent disruptions in our WSF service, this community collaboration has yielded $1.5 million in funding to enhance marine transportation in our county. Justin has effectively taken on critical issues facing our county by working with others to seek new solutions. Go, Justin!
My personal interaction with Justin at the fair revealed him to be a humble and kind individual. However, it was through his level-headed responses on social media, particularly in addressing the ferry issues, that I truly came to know Justin. I appreciate that Justin stepped up to help without seeking personal recognition for their recent success. Justin’s vision for a better quality of life for all island community members is not just a promise, but a commitment. His dedication to public service, transparency, and fostering a caring community is evident. Justin has my support and vote. I’m excited about the positive change he can bring to our county government, and I hope you will consider Justin Paulsen, too.
