Engaging in community organizations can improve health | Letter

I read Chris Wachholz letter and agree. Studies show isolation can worsen depression and anxiety. Since Covid, the numbers of people suffering from depression and anxiety has grown.

Churches and other settings of community such as AA, Al-Anon, library weekly groups for all ages, Mullis Center activities and meals, volunteer service organizations (such as Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and Soroptomists) and exercise groups are also places of friendship, fellowship and for those of us with family far away; serve as the family we create.

Please consider stepping out and trying a new place of worship, or community organization. I anticipate you will be greeted by a smile.

Sincerely, Susan Mahoney, M.D.
