I am dismayed to see that the county is having a “special” election for the library levy.

At a time when all of our government units are doing everything possible to cut costs and continue functioning, the money spent for this election is simply being wasted.

Having said that, and reading Mr. Dossett’s letter, I wonder why the library folks see a need to essentially double their annual budget?

I recently sat through a presentation by library personnel at one of our service club meetings as they tried to get our support for this levy.

When I questioned the size of the increase, I was told that that was not what was happening at all. Unable to get a straight answer (that my limited intellect could understand) I let it go.

Now, after reading Mr. Dossett’s letter, (our past assessor) I guess we got some kind of double talk from our presenters.

I still wonder what the increased funds will be used for, why the library can’t snug in their belts like the rest of us, and why it’s necessary to hold a “special election”.

It appears a “NO” vote is appropriate.
