On June 11, the San Juan Island Fire and Rescue District #3 Commissioners signed Resolution 2024-02 providing for the Submission of Levy Lid Lift for inclusion in the November election. Without the passage of a levy correction, the Department will be forced to execute serious staff and service reductions.

There has not been a levy correction since 1963. Our new Fire Chief Noel Monin has developed a 20 Year Plan to address the shortages and prepare for the future.

We need public support. We have encouraged a fire levy support team to assemble to provide education and information to citizens. These volunteers will be working to help the voters understand the department’s situation.

Your Fire Department is an essential service. We ask citizens to support this important process which will decide the future of your fire protection services on San Juan Island.
