EDC to offer Introduction to Solar Technology Course as part of Trades Training Initiative.

The Economic Development Council of San Juan County will facilitate a Solar Technology learning cohort as part of their Trades Training Initiative. This course is open to participants from San Juan County, ages 18 and over, who are interested in working in the solar industry in San Juan County.

The upcoming course will be offered online by Solar Energy International. Topics of study include an overview of various components, system architectures and applications for PV systems, as well as site analysis, performance estimation, electrical wiring and more.

A cohort of students will meet each week with an EDC advisor to achieve successful benchmarks, working through the online course materials on their own schedules. Students will also have opportunity to meet with local solar professionals in San Juan County to hear and see the industry in action. Students should plan to dedicate 10-20 hours per week of study during this course.

The course runs Nov. 4-Dec. 15, and there is a $275 registration fee. Space is limited.
