Join the EDC’s eighth annual “Datapalooza!” Wednesday, Dec. 4, from noon-1:30 p.m. on Orcas at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, sponsored by Island Market. Noted speakers include Dr. Anneliese Vance-Sherman, chief labor economist for the Washington State Employment Security Department, and James McCafferty, director of the Western Washington University Center for Economic & Business Research. Advance tickets of $29 are required. A deli-boxed lunch is included.
The event features 1.5 hours of presentations and great conversations regarding the community and economy. Presentations provide indepth analysis of the region’s economy and demographics and explore its past, present and future – including industry, employment and sales data, and current trends enabling leaders and businesspeople to make informed decisions about issues affecting the community and economy.
Vance-Sherman holds a Ph.D. in economic geography, Master of Science in applied economics from the University at Buffalo, serves on the boards of the Pacific Northwest Regional Economic Conference and the Seattle Economics Council. McCafferty is a certified global business professional with an MBA from Western Washington University, Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Oregon, serves as an Officer for the Seattle Economics Council, and past board member of the Association of University Business and Economic Research.
