Would you like to know what the economy will bring in the coming year – in San Juan County and on a global scale?
Well then, here’s a luncheon you won’t want to miss.
Join Washington State’s chief economist, Arun Raha, as he outlines today’s economic climate as featured speaker of San Juan County Economic Development Council’s 2011 Economic Forecast Luncheon, Monday, at Friday Harbor House.
Sharing the spotlight will be San Juan’s own Mark Anderson, of the Strategic News Service, who will discuss the effects of economic cyberwar on global and local economics. Rounding out the bill will be local economic experts representing the real estate and banking industries.
An award-wining economic forecaster, Raha earned a Ph.D. in economics at Washington State University and is executive director of the Economic and Revenue Forecast Council, as well as the state’s chief economist.
In his capacity as the state’s chief economist, Raha prepares and presents quarterly forecasts of the state’s economy and general fund revenues. He advises legislative committees and government agencies regarding economic activity in the state.
Raha is a former vice president of New York-based Swiss Re’s Economic Research branch and manager of the Eaton Corporation’s Economic Analysis division.
The luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will be held in the San Juan Room at Friday Harbor House, 130 West Street, Friday Harbor. Tickets are $25 and space is limited. Contact the EDC at 378-2906, or at info@sanjuansedc.orge, to reserve seat.
A portion of proceeds from the event will support the EDC’s educational programs; for more info visit, www.sanjuansedc.org.
