On Saturday last
it looked like a blast.
Jack and Jill went up to Jones,
Just one male and one female.
Not your regular crew of a chauvinistic male;
this time one much nicer did prevail.

They sailed hard and fast in the morning breeze
making it around Jones with ease.
But, on the return —
much concern.

Off Friday Harbor, what a sight.
Looked like the fleet would be there all night.
Around one boat turned and then another and another.
Oh, brother!

Currents from the south met currents from the west.
All we could do was just rest.
A couple made it all right;
The rest would be stalled the rest of the night.

Robert Abell in Remedy showed the way, taking 3 hours 15 minutes. Howard Lewis in Liberty followed with 5 hours 13 minutes, John Manning in 6 hours 3 minutes and Ed Hale in C’Est La Vie 6 hours 15 minutes. Fred Hoeppner in Mariana and Bill VanSkyhawk in Scarlet de Haro drew a DNF.
