With the annual spring migration just around the corner, there’s no better time than now to get a look at and to learn about the San Juans’ many ducks, raptors, shorebirds and swans… before they’re up, up and away.
The wonderful world of the archipelago’s wintering species will take center-stage in the San Juan Audubon Society’s upcoming field trip on San Juan Island, Saturday, Feb. 7.
Bird enthusiasts of all levels are encouraged to join the trip—beginners and novices, in particular. Plenty of veteran birders will be on hand offer expertise about the sights, sounds and species spotted along the way.
The field trip gets under way at 8 a.m. and is expected to conclude either in late morning or early afternoon; meet at the The Whale Museum in Friday Harbor. Binoculars, a lunch and winter weather-clothing are recommended.
