Outburst was designed to take attention away from desire to give Americans proper health care

Last night at President Obama's much-awaited speech on health care, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., raised his voice and shouted at the president "You lie." Never before in the history of the Congress has there been such a distasteful display of insolence and disrespect shown to a standing President of the United States, no matter what side of the isle you are on.

Enough already.

Last night at President Obama’s much-awaited speech on health care, Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., raised his voice and shouted at the president “You lie.” Never before in the history of the Congress has there been such a distasteful display of insolence and disrespect shown to a standing President of the United States, no matter what side of the aisle you are on.

This outburst was designed to take away today’s headlines of a speech that clarified the intent of this administration’s desire to give Americans proper health care. Obstruction, lies, deceit, fearmongering and racial bias is what “our friends” on the Republican side of the aisle have offered with little or no new ideas thrown in for good measure.

They are intent on dragging down this administration no matter what and have used shock jocks like Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh to make their message clear through lies and deceit. Pathetic.

Suffice it to say that the GOP is partisan, divisive, racially biased and inciteful. Tea parties, birthers, all with moral values that belie what they preach.

America wants health care reform. We want a choice of public option. We want insurance companies to have competition and we expect our representatives to honor their constituents. The USA is the only democratic country in the world that treats its citizens with such disdain.

Wake up and call your representative.
