Backward decision to charge for recycling

It is a backward decision to "unteach" us to recycle. Your mandatory charges will result in less recycling, and more rubbish all about our beautiful islands. Someone, somewhere is making money on recycling. Why can't the powers that be figure out how that pipeline works and make it work for San Juan Island?

Hello, San Juan County,

It is a backward decision to “unteach” us to recycle. Your mandatory charges will result in less recycling, and more rubbish all about our beautiful islands.

Someone, somewhere is making money on recycling. Why can’t the powers that be figure out how that pipeline works and make it work for San Juan Island?

You are gambling a decade of good citizenship training for a small return that does not even begin to remedy the problem. Fix the problem where it truly originates (this is why you were elected), and please continue to encourage us to recycle, to care about our precious place.

Your wrong decision, though made under duress, will create problems you have not imagined. There is much more than dollars at stake here, and as far as I know someone somewhere will recycle them too.
