Grange seeks help in locating photos of leaders

The project will feature installation of framed portraits of each Grange leader in a soon-to-be rehabilitated Grange entry hall. The problem is that some photos are missing or not of sufficient photo-quality to appropriately honor the leaders who held office.

Buoyed by a resurgence in membership, the San Juan Island Grange is tackling deferred maintenance at its historic Grange Hall on First Street in Friday Harbor.

Part of the effort includes restoration of a photo exhibit of past Grange leaders, who, over the years, have served the Grange and the island’s rural community.

The project will feature installation of framed portraits of each Grange leader in a soon-to-be rehabilitated Grange entry hall. The problem is that some photos are missing or not of sufficient photo-quality to appropriately honor the leaders who held office.

The Grange seeks assistance from anyone who might have a photograph or know of someone else who might have one that could be scanned for framing and display in the hall. Grange leaders currently without a photo include: Norman Fraser- 1932, LW La Bar- 1937, Walter Nichols- 1941, Ed Ringer- 1943, Crayton Smoots- 1953, Rey Dahl- 1958, Katherine Gilmer- 1955, Bob Blashfield- 1961.
