Freshman Rebecca Leff and senior Charlotte Guard dropped consecutive matches in singles at the Quad-District tournament Thursday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
Junior Hannah Snow and sophomore Jenny Dunn, the girls No. 1 doubles team, were eliminated as well after being outgunned by University Prep and Charles Wright Academy.
Coach Dick Barnes said competition increases by leaps and bounds at Quad-District.
“The level of tennis is just phenomenal,” he said.
Friday, the boys team also lost its bid to advance as senior Peter Duggins fell in consecutive matches, and Josh Lehr and Michael Sandifer lost 2-out-of-3 matches.
Lehr and Sandifer, who competed at State a year ago, earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Charles Wright before being eliminated in consecutive matches by the defending state champs from University Prep, and then in a 6-3, 7-5 heartbreaker to Bush High School’s No. 1 doubles team.
