The opening of the San Juan Islands Museum of Art new exhibits featuring Dana Lynn Louis, Ai Weiwei, and Fransico Goya kicked off with a private reception Friday Jan. 22.
Museum goers were given time for refreshments and peruse the three shows before IMA’s executive director Ian Boyden gave a brief presentation of Ai Weiwei’s work, and the event that inspired this particular show, China’s 2008 earthquake.
He also discussed Goya before leading the crowd toward the atrium where Louis spoke about her art, experience with her project Clearing, and fielded questions.
Goya’s “Sleep of Reason,” and Ai Weiwei’s “Fault Line” will be on display until April 11, and Dana Lynn Louis’ “As Above so Below” atrium installation will go until until April 4. The museum is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
