Following a spirited spirit week, the Wolverines celebrated Homecoming Oct. 11. The freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors put their school spirit on display during the annual Homecoming parade.
The community gathered along the intersection of Spring Street and Second Street where the classes put on short dances.
The freshman float theme was tropical island, while the sophomores’ was pirates and the juniors’ was patriotic – opting for a USA-themed float, complete with an American flag, Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty.– The seniors’ float theme was Top Gun, and they danced to music from the movie soundtrack for the judges.
The football game kicked off at 6:30 p.m. where they played Granite Falls High.
The first two quarters went well for the Wolverines. While the Granite Falls Tigers managed one touchdown, Friday Harbor made two. At the end of the second quarter, the score was 14-6, Wolverines’ were ahead. However, during the second half, the Tigers pulled ahead. The final score was 34-20, with the Tigers’ taking the win.
The season is not over though- they play Blaine Oct. 18 in Blaine, and Coupeville High at Friday Harbor Oct. 31, Halloween, according to the Friday Harbor Athletics website.
