Edward Lee Tuck | Passages

September 16, 1937 – September 1, 2024

It is with both sadness and a deep sense of gratitude that we announce the passing of Edward Lee Tuck. Eddie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who left us on September 1, 2024, just shy of his 87th birthday. Born on September 16, 1937, in Roche Harbor, WA, he departed peacefully in Tacoma, WA, surrounded by the love of his family.

Eddie was fortunate to share 64 years of marriage with his best friend and wife, Joan M. Tuck (Luthy), exemplifying an unbreakable partnership rooted in a deep love for each other and their family. Together, they created countless cherished memories, many of which occurred at their beach house in Grapeview, WA, including numerous family reunions, a wedding, and many family gatherings. Eddie especially loved spending time with family and friends at that Beach house. Always active, his passions included boating, agate hunting, riding dirt bikes, and snow skiing well into his seventies.

Eddie had a very full life growing up on San Juan Island with his father, Edward Norman Tuck, his mother, Angela Kreger-Tuck, and 4 sisters. His family moved to Houston, TX, in 1950, where he learned the tire trade from his uncle Harold Kreger at an OK Rubber Welders Franchise. The family later settled in Tacoma, WA, where, at the young age of 18, he became a co-founder of T & T Tire along with his father, (Chief), and brother-in-law Harry (Tiny) Youngberg. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served for four years stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. During his four years of service, Eddie continued to help grow the family tire business that has thrived for nearly seven decades and continues today.

He is survived by his wife, Joan M. Tuck (Luthy); son, Ed Tuck III; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Macklin; daughter, Sheri Tuck; three sisters: Ruth Youngberg, Sarah Lowe, and Josie Hauser (Fred); four grandchildren: Tanisha Macklin, Edward Tuck IV, Madeline Tuck, and Chase Tuck; and ten great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his parents, his sister Etta Hill, and his son Duane David Tuck, Eddie’s legacy is carried on by those who knew and loved him. He was known for his strong moral compass and his love for his family. For almost 87 years, his positive example influenced most of us fortunate enough to have known him, likely more than he knew. Eddie will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at the Tacoma Yacht Club on Sunday, October 6th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For family and friends who want to participate in his celebration of life, please RSVP by Tuesday, September 24th, to Ed Tuck, III at ed@tnttire.com.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Neptune Society. For more information and to share a note, memory, or photo, please visit https://neptunesociety.com/obituaries/8904476.
