Soroptimists International of Friday Harbor is proud to announce that the 2024 High School Scholarship program was able to award a total of $11,000 to five graduating senior girls. These scholarships were made possible due to the incredible generosity of our community members and local businesses who support Soroptimist fundraising projects.
The $3000 STEM Scholarship was awarded to Ava Martin, who will study environmental science and or International and Public Affairs at Brown.
Two $2000 scholarships were awarded to Grace Eltinge and Ella Raichlen. Eltinge will study education at Oregon State University and hopes to return to the island and teach. Raichlen will study kinesiology and marketing at Washington State University at Pullman and hopes to enter the fitness industry.
Two $2000 Community College Scholarships were awarded to Adriana Guerrero and Maria Magana-Navarro. Guerrero will earn an associate degree in Medical Assisting at Renton Community College and continue on to become an RN. Magana-Navarro will study Journalism and Marketing at Whatcom Community College and then transfer to a four-year college or university.
We are very proud of these young women and know they will make the world a better place as they pursue their goals. Congratulations!
