The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

April 24

• A Friday Harbor resident reported that a male individual had called her three times and stopped by to talk to her at her office twice. The individual was not contacted at the request of the reporting party. This is for information only. No further action was required.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped to help with a vehicle stalled in the roadway. The driver was on a test drive when the transmission reportedly failed, and the vehicle was moved to the side of the roadway. The driver was issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license – 3rd degree.

April 25

• On Orcas, two vehicles were involved in a collision. After an investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles was arrested for DUI and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. A search warrant for blood was obtained. Charges are pending.

• A deputy on San Juan received a report of fraud. Currently, there are no suspects.

• On Orcas, a deputy responded to a report of an altercation between juveniles. The deputy spoke with both the parents and the juveniles.

• A deputy on San Juan arrested a person who had an outstanding warrant for theft 3rd degree and booked them into the San Juan County Jail.

• A deputy responded to a single-vehicle collision outside of Eastsound. The driver was on the scene when the deputy arrived and no injuries were observed. However, the deputy learned the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, and issued them a citation for that charge.

April 26

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a reported hit and run in the early morning hours and learned that an unknown vehicle had struck a parked equipment trailer causing approximately $500 in damage. The driver fled the scene and there was limited information at the time.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a fraud call. A Lopez citizen called a fraudulent Facebook helpline which resulted in their phone being hacked remotely, and money was taken out of their online bank account.

• A deputy received property found on Lopez and documented the incident.

• A Lopez deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding and issued the driver a citation for traveling 56 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

• A deputy took a complaint of harassment and determined there was not enough information to suggest a crime occurred.

April 27

• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for driving left of center. The driver was ultimately cited for not having a valid license with ID, not having insurance, and for driving left of center.

April 28

• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of an injury collision. The driver, a minor, was transported to the emergency room for treatment and a blood draw was completed for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for a DUI, for being a minor in possession, and for not having a valid license with ID.

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a second rollover accident on the same night. The driver fled from the scene on foot and hid. Ultimately, the driver was identified as the registered owner and received multiple citations as well as a criminal citation for a minor in possession.

• A deputy took a report that dogs had attacked sheep on a farm on San Juan. The sheep survived the incident and were seen by a veterinarian. The reporting party and other witnesses had never seen the dogs before. At the time of the report, there is no suspect information or workable leads.

• A Lopez driver was issued a citation for traveling 56 mph in a 35 mph zone.

April 29

• Deputies on Orcas responded to a domestic dispute. There was insufficient evidence to suggest that a crime had been committed; the parties were separated.

• A deputy on San Juan conducted a traffic stop because the driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver received a criminal citation for a suspended driver’s license – 2nd degree.

April 30

• A Lopez deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 35 mph in a posted 20 mph school zone, which earned the driver a speeding citation.

• A deputy on San Juan Island issued a trespass letter.

• On San Juan, a deputy conducted a welfare check after receiving a 911 call.
