Unveiling the Power of BIPOC Women: Inspiring True Leadership Through Open Hearts

Submitted by the San Juan Island Library.

In a world where barriers are erected and glass ceilings remain unbroken, former Washington State Senator Mona Das finds that true leadership comes not from power or control, but from an open heart committed to lifting others up and creating meaningful change.

Mona will join us to talk about the challenges she faced as a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color), woman in politics, how she led with her heart during her tenure in the state legislature, and how she used her platform to confront the systemic barriers that marginalized communities face every day.

This event will be held virtually via Zoom on Thursday, July 6 at 7 p.m.. To register and receive the Zoom link, please visit the Library’s online events calendar at www.sjlib.org, or contact Frankie Thomas at fthomas@sjlib.org.

This is the next installment of a three-part speaker series hosted by the San Juan Island Library and The Madrona Institute, with funding from the San Juan Island Community Foundation 2022 County Fair Giving Campaign. The series will continue through the summer and into the fall.
