The Friday Harbor Animal Shelter’s sixth annual Wags to Riches is July 25 — Sunday — at the home of Bob and Lissa McDowell.
Two local dog groups will headline the show: the Flying Dingo Agility team, and a group from Yankee Creek Farm. Attendees this year will see the return of Danny, the little guy with a mind of his own, who several years ago bolted from his team, ran into the crowd and stole the show.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer entertainment of this quality,” said Jaime Ellsworth, president of the Friday Harbor Animal Protection Society. “The shelter is truly a community endeavor, and the largest percentage of our income comes from fund-raising events, especially Wags to Riches.
“With this year’s continuing economic downturn, we are all working harder than ever to assure that help is available for our animals in need.”
The animal shelter receives no funding from the city or county; it depends solely on support from the community.
Dancing to live music will be a new feature at this year’s event. Guests will also enjoy a gourmet dinner, spirits, and a live auction.
Among the many items in this year’s auction:
— Bronze cat sculpture.
— Dessert of the Month.
— Dinner for six with Eugene Cuomo.
— Jaime Ellsworth original painting.
— Fund A Need.
— Group cruise on racing sailing yacht.
