Ballots were cast and counted Feb. 8 as voters weighed in on two proposed levies.
The San Juan Island School District Proposition 1, titled Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy replaces an expiring levy with a new one.
Voters approved the school levy by 70.2 percent to 29.98 percent. The total count was 2,081 yes votes and 891 no votes.
The San Juan County Public Hospital District Proposition 1, titled Renewal of a Six Year Emergency Medical Services Property Tax Levy, authorizes the hospital district to impose a regular property tax levies of $0.45 or less per $1,000 of assessed valuation for six consecutive years.
Voters approved this measure by a narrower margin than the school levy. A total of 64.66 percent voted yes while 35.34 percent voted no. The total count was 1,939 yes votes and 1,059 no votes.
