The Friday Harbor girls and boys varsity basketball team lost conference games to Orcas Island High School on Dec. 17. The girls came in at 50-29 and the boys at 50-43. The boys team lost again to the Bush School in a conference game on Dec. 21 at 51-49.
Coach Collin Williamson exclaimed, “The Basketball season has been a challenge so far!”
So far, both the girls and boys basketball teams have lost all of their conference games. The girls have had three conference games and the boys have had two. There are nine more conference games to come.
Williamson said of the Orcas game, “We almost came back from a steep first-quarter deficit.”
He went on to say he would like to congratulate Orcas on the well-executed game and that the team looks forward to having them in their gym on senior night.
To combat the losses he explained that the players have been working very hard in practice and in games to execute their plans, which currently focus on doing the jobs of their positions both individually and as a group.
“We’re focusing on the basics and becoming a better team day by day,” Williamson said.
Games will resume after winter break on Jan. 6 against Coupeville for both the boys and girls teams.
