San Juan Community Theatre is delighted to be hosting several events during the 2021 holiday season!
We will kick off our holiday celebrations on Dec. 4 from 5-9 p.m. with our 2021 Holiday Festival: Winter Wonderland! Come and enjoy a classic holiday celebration, complete with delicious food, cocktails, wine, live auction and entertainment.
The following weekend, let the sounds of the Season of Light swirl around you with the San Juan Singers: Comfort & Joy concert. There will be two performances, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and 12 at 2 p.m. and will feature songs that celebrate the Winter Solstice, Christmas and Hannukah. Enjoy the soothing sounds of harp, strings, piano and voices blended in rich harmonies!
Before you settle into holiday break, join us for the streaming of The Metropolitan Opera’s production of Fire Shut Up in My Bones on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. This production is a historic occasion: the Met’s first performance of an opera by a Black composer. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Grammy Award–winning jazz musician and composer Terence Blanchard’s adaptation of Charles M. Blow’s moving memoir, which The New York Times praised after its 2019 world premiere at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as “bold and affecting” and “subtly powerful.” Featuring a libretto by filmmaker Kasi Lemmons, the opera tells a poignant and profound story about a young man’s journey to overcome a life of trauma and hardship. We look forward to seeing you at theatre and celebrating the holidays with the community in person this year!
