The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Nov. 18
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of telephone harassment. The caller stated the suspect has a dispute over an old bill and called numerous times on this day. The deputy spoke with the other party involved and he stated he would stop calling the reporting party.
• A deputy responded to a delayed report of a hit and run in Friday Harbor. The information was gathered from the complainant, photos taken of the damage to the car, and a report completed. There are no suspects or workable leads at this time.
• A Lopez Island deputy verified the address for a registered sex offender.
Nov. 19
• A San Juan deputy stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration. The driver was issued citations for having a registration of over two months expiration, improper display of tabs and having no insurance.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a theft of multiple items over the night. There are no suspects or workable leads at this time.
Nov. 20
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a trespassing and possible burglary call. The suspect was captured on video and the case is currently being investigated.
• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of a theft. A video was obtained of the suspects and is currently under investigation.
• A Lopez resident reported several small trees were cut down on his property without his permission.
• Orcas Island deputies responded to an Eastsound business where the owner requested deputies issue a trespass warning. Deputies located the person and a report was taken.
• A Lopez resident reported additional occurrences of a long-running citizen dispute. The incident was documented and civil court protection order assistance was suggested.
• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a missing person. San Juan Fire was called to assist in the search and the missing person was located and transported to the hospital for treatment.
Nov. 21
• Orcas Island deputies responded to a domestic violence assault. The suspect hit the victim, violating a no-contact order, then fled the scene. An area check was made with negative results and a report was taken.
• A Lopez Island deputy was sent to remove a traffic hazard from the roadway. The initial hazard was removed, and Public Works notified.
• A Lopez Island deputy was called regarding a possible case of animal neglect. Upon investigation, the animal was found to have a congenital defect but is otherwise healthy.
• A Lopez Island deputy assisted Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife police in checking on a tip of gunshots late at night, possibly involving poaching a deer.
• A Lopez Island deputy was called about hunters on private property without permission. Three men from the Everett area were contacted, and after a brief investigation, they moved along at the property owner’s request. No enforcement action was requested by the reporting party.
• A Lopez Island deputy was sent to check on a report of a cow in the road. As the deputy arrived, passers-by had just herded it back into its pasture. The owner was notified that the cow had escaped.
• An Orcas Island deputy was dispatched to a report of drugs found in the Eastsound area. The reporting party found a kit containing needles and burnt spoons. A report was taken.
• A Lopez Island deputy ticketed a flatbed trailer left parked in the road without lights or warning devices.
Nov. 22
• San Juan deputies responded to a report of an unconscious person in an idling vehicle. While deputies were en route, the driver regained consciousness and left the area in their vehicle. Deputies located the driver and initiated a traffic stop. After investigation, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
• A Lopez Island deputy was sent to put down an injured deer. The deer had been shot after dark, wounded and abandoned by an unknown hunter.
• A deputy was dispatched to a reported domestic dispute in the San Juan Island area. The deputy arrived and contacted the people involved in the incident. After speaking with the involved people, it was determined that no crime was committed.
• A deputy was dispatched to malicious mischief in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy contacted the reporting party. The party advised deputies that someone had “tagged” the backdoor of their business. Photos were taken of the “tag” and a report filed.
• A deputy was dispatched to malicious mischief in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy was advised that the public restroom had been damaged. Photos and a report were taken. There is no suspect information or workable leads at this time.
• A deputy on Orcas Island responded to a prowler complaint. The complainant was contacted and an investigation commenced.
• A San Juan deputy took a report of a theft. Decorative holiday lights valued at $200 were removed from a pier at the Port of Friday Harbor.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a walk-in report of a telephone scam. After talking with the reporting party it was determined that there has not been any monetary loss as of the time of the report and the caller was advised to notify his bank and the credit services.
• A driver was issued a driver a citation for speeding 40 mph in a 25 mph zone of Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez. The driver also received a warning for the white light to the rear being out.
• A deputy was dispatched to a death investigation in the San Juan Island area. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the people involved. The investigation showed the death was not suspicious.
Nov. 24
• A San Juan deputy stopped a driver of a vehicle with an expired registration. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the third degree and released with a citation.
• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for speeding 65 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone and for not having insurance.
