The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.
Feb. 13
• A San Juan deputy stopped a driver for stopping their vehicle in an intersection. The driver was issued a citation for not having insurance; warnings were also given.
• A deputy on San Juan issued a driver a citation for driving 56 mph in a 45 mph zone.
• A deputy took a report of a hit-and-run vehicle collision that occurred on Orcas. The case is under further investigation.
• A deputy on San Juan issued a driver a citation for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
• A deputy on San Juan issued a driver citations for traveling 40 mph in a 25 mph zone and for having an expired vehicle registration.
• A San Juan deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle for traveling 37 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone. Citations were issued for speeding; for not having insurance; for not having a driver’s license on their person; for failing to obtain a Washington SState driver’s license; and for negligent driving in the second degree.
• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for traveling 62 mph in a 45 mph zone.
• A San Juan deputy arrested a driver for failing to transfer a title within 45 days. The driver was released with a citation for this, as well as for not having insurance and for failing to wear a seatbelt.
• San Juan deputies were dispatched to a domestic assault in-progress. After further investigation, the suspect was taken into custody and charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault.
Feb. 14
• Deputies on San Juan were contacted about a wanted person. The person turned himself in on outstanding local warrants, was taken into custody and booked on the warrants.
• A deputy on San Juan issued a driver a citation for speeding 60 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for having an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for the expired registration and for not having insurance.
• A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a citizen dispute. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the people involved. The incident was a verbal domestic incident and the people were separated.
• A deputy on Orcas responded to a complaint of missing property. The person making the complaint was contacted and an investigation was started.
• Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Orcas. It was later discovered that no crimes were committed and the parties agreed to settle the situation civilly.
• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for traveling 41 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone.
• A San Juan deputy issued a driver a citation for not wearing a seatbelt.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor issued the driver of a vehicle a citation for not wearing a seatbelt.
• An Orcas deputy received a wallet turned in at the substation and processed it according to protocol.
Feb. 15
• A San Juan deputy was conducting bar checks and found a female inside one of the bars who currently has conditions relating to being inside bars or consuming alcohol. A report was completed and forwarded to the probation officer.
• A deputy was dispatched to a civil problem in Friday Harbor. The deputy contacted the people involved and noted no problems.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped a driver for driving 60 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone. The driver was issued a citation for the speeding violation and for not having a valid operator’s license.
• A San Juan deputy took a report of a theft.
• A person in Friday Harbor found a cell phone and took it to the Sheriff’s Office where it was processed as found property.
• A deputy on San Juan issued a driver a citation for speeding 45 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a parking problem in Moran State Park.
• A deputy in Friday Harbor stopped the driver of a vehicle for not wearing a seatbelt and issued the driver a citation for the violation.
• A deputy on San Juan stopped a driver for a defective headlight. The driver was issued a citation for not having a driver’s license on their person and for failing to initially obtain a Washington driver’s license. The driver received a warning for the headlight violation.
• A Lopez deputy stopped a motorist after he saw him speeding in the 2600 block of Fisherman Bay Road and issued the driver a ticket for speeding.
• A deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a civil call-back and took an informational report.
• A San Juan deputy arrested a driver for driving under the influence. The driver had another alcohol-related driving incident in the past 10 years.
Feb. 16
• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a domestic incident in the Friday Harbor area. The deputy arrived, contacted the people involved and determined the report was unfounded.
• A Lopez deputy was called to check on a suspicious vehicle that had been repeatedly seen in a neighborhood throughout the day. The vehicle was gone when the deputy arrived and did not return.
• An Orcas deputy gave a driver a verbal warning for speeding as they were traveling 47 mph in a 35 mph zone of Olga Road.
• Orcas deputies conducted an area search for a wanted person near Rohls Hill Road, in the Olga area and near Eastsound. Information was gathered.
• Deputies in Friday Harbor were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person. The suspect was identified and an informational report was filed.
• Friday Harbor deputies were dispatched to a disturbance. Deputies arrested a suspect for driving under the influence and filed a DUI report.
• An Orcas deputy gave a driver a verbal warning for traveling 51 mph in a 40 mph zone.
• An Orcas deputy gave a driver a verbal warning for traveling 50 mph in a 40 mph zone of Orcas Road.
• A deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on North Beach Road.
Feb. 17
• Lopez deputies investigated a reported violation of a domestic violence no-contact order and arrested the respondent without incident. The subject was transported to Friday Harbor and booked into jail pending a court appearance.
• A deputy was contacted in reference to a citizen dispute on San Juan. The incident involved a boundary issue. The involved people were contacted, and all agreed to stay off the other’s property.
• A Lopez deputy was called to euthanize an injured deer that had apparently been struck by a vehicle.
• Deputies on San Juan responded to trespassing in progress. The suspect was contacted and was issued a notice of trespass warning letter.
• Deputies on San Juan were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and was issued a citation for not having insurance and for having wheels off the roadway.
• Orcas deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the Eastsound area and took a report.
Feb. 18
• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a phone call about an incident of animal cruelty from a person who said her cat had been shot.
• A deputy on Orcas took a report of a physical altercation at a road construction site between a civilian and a worker on the site.
• A Lopez deputy was contacted about a neighbor dispute. The reporting party asked that the others involved be trespassed from their property in the future. Trespass warning letters were issued.
Feb. 19
• A Lopez deputy spoke with parties on Decatur Island involved in a civil property line dispute.
• A deputy on Lopez was sent to check on a report of a dog running at-large on Center Road. No dog was located in the area.
• An Orcas deputy responded to a vandalism call near the map corner. Photographs and a report were taken. There are no suspects at this time.
• A deputy in Eastsound issued a driver a verbal warning for failing to yield the right-of-way
