Trish Lehman told me about David Bentley’s article, to “play tourist and shop Friday Harbor.” I jumped into the fray after she joyfully shared her positive experience and was reminded once again what a wealth of goodies and people we have here in Friday Harbor.

To name a few:

— Carol and Dilys at Serendipity Books have a treasure trove of reading material and are so knowledgeable and can find exactly what you want. I’ve been blown away by their ability to come up with title, author and book when given very sketchy info (by me!). And the price is unbelievable.

— Doug Bison at Bison Gallery. What a feast for the senses, with all the museum-quality artifacts in a huge range of prices, many very affordable, gorgeous and handmade. Doug is so amazing to have created such a collection.

— Julie Capron at Software. You can’t miss there. Every time I go in, the smile and welcome are a joy — then boom, I’m into all the cards and fun kitzelly “with-it” styles. She has something for everyone.

So I guess I’m saying I’m excited for you to make your hometown discoveries that are so easy to pass by, forgetting we have it all in our own back yard.
