Local author Libbie Grant, who writes under the pen name Olivia Hawker, reached the Washington Post National Bestseller List for Fiction with her new novel “The Ragged Edge of Night.” The book will be published by Lake Union Publishing on Oct. 1, 2018.
Set in Germany during the latter years of WWII, the novel is based upon a true story from the author’s family. Early reviews have described the book as “emotionally charged and beautifully written,” “an introspective, poignant voyage” and “harrowing yet life-affirming.” Some readers have hailed “The Ragged Edge of Night” as the new “gold standard for WWII fiction.” Themes of resistance against a tyrannical regime will strike a chord with modern readers. “The Ragged Edge of Night” is in consideration for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize.
