The local Kiwanis Club will hold its annual old-fashioned Fourth of July Pig War Picnic at the San Juan Historical Museum at 405 Price St., after the parade in town.
Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. for $10. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches or kosher hot dogs, coleslaw, chips, a pickle and drink. There will also be $5 kids meals, $3 hot fudge sundaes and a beer garden.
Games will include a three-legged race, egg toss, pennies in the hay and gunny sack races, organized by Island Rec, and Friends of the Library will have a cake walk.
Schedule:
•10:30 a.m., parade
• 11:30 a.m., welcome; lunch is served
• Noon, opening ceremonies: American Legion; Pat O’Day, emcee
• 12:15-2:15 p.m., Duke and Mojo Nation (rock band)
• 1:15 p.m., parade awards
• 2:15 p.m., donut-eating contest
• 2:30 p.m., Mr. Steve and the Harmoneers
