San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

April 11

• An Orcas deputy responded to a hit-and-run call that occurred a few days prior. A statement and photographs were taken. There are no current suspects.

• A Lopez deputy came upon two fallen trees, completely blocking Aleck Bay Road. A public works crew was dispatched to clear them.

• A Lopez business owner called regarding an abandoned vehicle left on private property. Information was provided to have the vehicle removed.

April 12

• A Lopez deputy was sent to investigate a 911 hang-up call. No problem was found at the residence, and the 911 call was believed to have been inadvertent.

• A deputy was dispatched to a report of a suspicious circumstance in Friday Harbor.

• A deputy initiated a traffic stop in Friday Harbor and the driver was issued a citation failure to obey a stop sign and a warning for not having proof of current insurance, as well as having an expired registration.

• A Lopez deputy was contacted regarding a landlord-and-tenant dispute.

April 13

• Deputies were dispatched to a mentally unstable person in Friday Harbor. The person was transported to a medical facility for evaluation.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for not having license plates. The passenger was then arrested on two felony warrants and for drug possession.

• A deputy took a report of vandalism on county property. Graffiti was found and a known suspect’s tag was used.

• Deputies were dispatched to a report of domestic violence in Friday Harbor. The suspect was arrested for domestic assault in the fourth degree.

April 14

• A Lopez Fire and EMS member requested a deputy for a reckless burning incident.

• A Lopez deputy was contacted regarding a possible protection order violation. The involved parties were interviewed and an informational report was made.

• An Orcas deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. The deputy learned that the driver’s license was suspended and the driver did not have insurance, so he was cited for the offenses.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a reported animal problem.

• A deputy responded to a reported fraud at Kings Market in Friday Harbor. The deputy met with the caller, gathered evidence and completed a report.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for 43 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 43 mph in a 25 mph zone.

• A Lopez woman was stopped by a deputy for speeding on Fisherman Bay Road. She was arrested for driving under the influence, resisting arrest and assault in the fourth degree. She was lodged in jail in Friday Harbor pending a court appearance.

April 15

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a single-vehicle collision.

• A deputy on Orcas responded to the school’s administration building for a reported vandalism. It appeared that someone tried to pry the front door open, damaging the frame.

• A small black dog was taken to Orcas Animal Protection Society.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration. The driver was issued a citation for failure to transfer a title within 45 days and a citation for not having a valid operator’s license, identification or insurance, as well as for having an expired registration for over two months.

• A deputy on Orcas stopped a vehicle for expired vehicle registration. The driver was issued a citation for having an expired registration over two months.

April 16

• A citizen brought a credit card case and its contents to the Friday Harbor dispatch. The citizen stated he had found the items on First Street, on the sidewalk in front of the Golden Triangle restaurant. The items were wet, but otherwise in decent condition.

• A deputy responded to a report of a welfare check in Friday Harbor. The deputy spoke with the individual and referred them to Compass Health for follow-up.

• A Lopez deputy was called regarding an on-going neighbor dispute over the use of an easement between adjoining properties.

• A deputy responded to a residential burglary in the Olga area. An unknown person(s) attempted to pry open several doors on a single residence but was not able to gain entry.

• A Lopez woman reported a computer fraud scam. She received a security alert warning on her computer, which directed her to pay for tech support.

April 17

• A Friday Harbor deputy issued a citation to two separate drivers for failing to stop at a stop sign.

• Deputies were dispatched to a verbal domestic disturbance in Friday Harbor. Both parties separated for the evening.

• A deputy responded to an apparent assault which occurred at an Eastsound business. The investigation revealed that a middle-aged male slapped another male sitting in a chair. Video surveillance was obtained. The identity of the suspect is still being sought.
