Learn local ways to help the disabled

Submitted by the San Juan Island Family Resource Center

October is National Disability Awareness Month.

Would you like to learn about local support and opportunities for disabled children and adults? At 6 p.m., Oct. 23, there will be a community meeting at the San Juan Family Resource Center, 476 Market St., in Friday Harbor. Representatives from the Developmental Disabilities Administration, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and Washington Vocational Services will share information about their services.

Disabilities can include a variety of health challenges including PTSD, limited mobility, chronic pain and any other symptoms that prevent one from living life to the fullest. For more information, call Theresa Jiminez, SJISD director of special education, at 360-370-7303
