The Wolverines Football team had high spirits by the end of the game on Friday, Sept 22. They beat the La Conner Braves with a final score of 14-0.
With no points on the scoreboard by halftime, both teams were hoping for one good play to change the game. However, a nice pick off by Wolverine Wade Swirtz woke up the crowd with .2 seconds left in the first half. The Wolverines gained control of the game after a false start by the Braves in the 3rd quarter, where the Wolverines took over the 44-yard line. Wolverine Jordan Lawson got big cheers from the crowd for his interception near the end of the 3rd quarter. Persistence paid off when Wolverine Emron Geiser scored the first touchdown of the game followed by a successful point, making the score 7-0. Geiser went on to score another 7 points for the Wolverines resulting in the final winning score of 14. A holding penalty discredited the Braves’ only touchdown and with strong defense from the Wolverines, the Braves were unable to score. The next Wolverines home game is Friday, Sept 29 at 6:30 p.m. against South Whidbey.
