John J. Theodore, an entrepreneur whose ventures included the JJ Theodore Company, an independent salmon cannery on Griffin Bay, has died, The Seattle Times reported Sunday in its Obituaries section

Mr. Theodore died July 11. He was 93.

Mr. Theodore was a native of New York City, earned a degree in economics and business at the University of Washington in 1946, and went into business, the Times reported. Among his ventures: the Northwest Trading Company, Okinawa Plywood Corporation, the JJ Theodore Company salmon cannery, and parking lots and garages in downtown Seattle.

Mr. Theodore was the first president of the Seattle Chorale and served on the board of the Seattle Opera. He founded the John J. and Georgiana Theodore Foundation to assist music initiatives and organizations, the Times reported.

Interment was at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue. He is survived by his daughter, son, four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
