Island Rec’s Music on the Lawn summer concert series returns

Submitted by Island Rec

Island Rec’s long-standing concert series Music on the Lawn returns on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15 p.m., at the San Juan Historical Museum, at 405 Price Street. Grab a blanket or bring a chair, have a picnic and get ready to dance.

July 5 Army Brass Band and the Army Rock Band Patriots This will be a battle of the bands, where each group will take turns to outdo the other.

July 12 Tapwater This band hails from Portland and is a boisterous sextet with lots of vocals, drums, piano, saxophones, guitars and as much as the ferries will allow them to bring on board. This is a very danceable and strangely exotic band playing roots music.

July 19 Blues on Tap This award-winning blues band from Seattle knows how to work their craft and has visited the island many times.

July 26 Uncle Funk and the Dope 6 This upbeat funk and rock band is from Port Townsend and will jumpstart the deadest of batteries. Imagine a mash up of Stevie Wonder, Little Feat, Prince, and Elton John.

August 2 Jbots This local rock band is as good as they come and impresses all audiences. It’s pop rock ‘n roll at its best.

August 9 Uncle Otto This dynamic local acoustic band with svelte harmonies sings the hits of the 70s. Think, CSN&Y, The Band, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dan Hicks, mixed with some reggae and rolled into one very big playlist.
